Select Manage settings before October 29. A missing control means stop.
OpenAI's help page says ChatGPT Ads creative enhancements turn on automatically on Thursday, October 29, 2026, for new and existing campaigns. In Ads Manager, Select Manage settings. If that label is missing, stop. An email quoted on another page names Friday, October 30, and it is not the same sentence.

Select Manage settings before Thursday, October 29. If that control isn't there, stop.
ChatGPT Ads can change a headline, translate the text, resize an image, or send the click to a different page on your site. OpenAI's help page says those creative enhancements turn on automatically on October 29, 2026, for new and existing campaigns. You can opt out before that date, or change the setting later in Ads Manager. The page names one control. It does not name the click after it.
I fetched Creative enhancements for ChatGPT Ads on October 21, 2026. I didn't sign in to an ads account. The steps below are the ones that page names. If Manage settings is missing in your session, that is the account in front of you. It is not a menu I skipped.[1]
The fetched help page does not print a calendar "updated" date. I'm not adding one.[1]
What can change without a per-version approval
Creative enhancements use the ad you already have and the landing page. They can include new or updated headlines and descriptions, image resizing, destination-URL optimization, and translation into other languages.[1]
The inputs the page names are the conversation or the person's interests, the existing ad, and content from that ad's landing page. Variations may be prepared in advance, or created in real time from the conversation. When the feature is enabled, those ads can run automatically. You do not have to review or approve each version.[1]
Four things can move.
- Headlines and descriptions. OpenAI may write new or updated text so the offer connects to the conversation or to the person's interests.[1]
- Language. OpenAI may translate the ad text into another language. The page does not give a language list, and it does not say you pick the language.[1]
- Images. Images may be resized to fit the ad format. The page says resize. It does not say the feature draws a new picture.[1]
- Destination URLs. The destination URL may be optimized so the click lands on a relevant page on your website. That is not a promise that the URL you set is the URL that serves.[1]
The page also says ads do not influence ChatGPT's answers. Ads are separate and clearly labeled.[1]
The help page walks one example. A conversation about planning quick weeknight dinners. The original headline is "Fresh groceries delivered." The example enhanced headline is "Groceries for quick weeknight dinners." The original description is "Order fresh produce and pantry staples for delivery." The example enhanced description is "Get fresh produce and pantry staples delivered for your weeknight meals."[1]
The page says that example assumes the original ad and the landing page support the product and delivery details shown. Actual wording may vary. Creative enhancements adapt existing ads.[1] Those lines are OpenAI's example. Don't paste them into a campaign.
October 29 and October 30 are not the same sentence
Teach the help page's date.
"Starting Thursday, October 29, 2026, creative enhancements will be enabled automatically for new and existing campaigns. You can opt out before October 29 or change your settings at any time in Ads Manager. Select Manage settings"[1]
That sentence has no period after Select Manage settings in the page I fetched. It does not name the next click. It says "new and existing campaigns." It does not say "self-serve."[1]
A different page prints a different date. I fetched Search Engine Roundtable's writeup on October 21, 2026. The visible stamp is "Oct 20, 2026 - 3:35 pm." That stamp does not print a timezone. The page's datePublished value is 2026-10-20T15:35:00-04:00. Barry Schwartz is the author named on the page.[2]
His opening says OpenAI emailed advertisers, including him, that creative enhancements were automatically enabled for his ChatGPT Ads, and that the email says this starts on October 30, 2026.[2] The email block he prints is not the help page's sentence.
"Starting Friday, October 30, 2026, we'll enable creative enhancements for your new and existing self-serve campaigns."[2]
The email also says you can opt out before October 30, 2026, or change settings at any time in Ads Manager. It says existing account and campaign-level opt-outs will be preserved, and campaign-specific settings will take priority over account defaults.[2]
Don't merge them. The help page says Thursday, October 29, and "new and existing campaigns."[1] The email says Friday, October 30, and "new and existing self-serve campaigns."[2] His lede says the feature was automatically enabled. The email block he prints uses a future date. I didn't get that email, so I'm not treating either sentence as a correction of the other.[2]
Act before October 29 if this account should not rewrite headlines, translate text, resize images, or change the destination URL on its own. If someone waves the email and says you have until October 30, show them both sentences. October 30 is the email. It is not the help page.[1][2]
He also writes that the setting is in "your ad accounts setting section," links https://ads.openai.com/settings, and says it was toggled on for him.[2] I didn't open that URL. I didn't open the screenshot. Don't brief a toggle label from a picture this run didn't read. The documented words are Ads Manager, then Select Manage settings.[1]
Select Manage settings, then stop
Open Ads Manager. Select Manage settings.[1]
If that label is missing, stop. Write down that Manage settings was not in this account. Don't hunt for a switch the help page doesn't name. The fetched page ends the instruction at Select Manage settings.[1]
If the control is there, opt out before October 29, or change the setting later. The page says you can do either.[1] It does not print the name of the switch. If a creative-enhancements control is on that screen, use it. If the next screen doesn't show one, stop and write that down. A missing control is the finding. It is not a step I left out.
Then read the campaign, not only the account.
"Existing account- and campaign-level opt-outs are preserved. Campaign-specific settings take priority over your account default."[1]
The page does not draw every on and off combination. Don't invent one. If you only opened the account default, say so. The campaign setting is the one that takes priority.[1]
The email's preservation sentence is close, and it is not identical. Leave it on the email. Brief the help page's two sentences for the October 29 date.[1][2]
There is no preview to wait for.
"You do not need to review or approve each enhanced version before it runs. The experience does not provide a preview of every variation. When enabled, enhanced creatives can run automatically."[1]
Don't promise a gallery. Some variations are prepared in advance. Some are created in real time from the conversation, so they may not exist yet.[1] If the account should not run a headline you have not seen, opt out before October 29.[1]
Keep the page current, and don't over-read the report
The opt-out is the control. The source material still has a job, including if you leave enhancements on.
- Keep the ads and the landing pages current, including prices, promotions, product details, and availability.[1]
- Write clear, specific copy that says what you offer and why it may be useful.[1]
- Make sure the creative and the landing pages comply with OpenAI's Ads Policies.[1]
That third line points at a policies page. I didn't fetch it, so I'm not summarizing it. The same help page points to "Create Ads for ChatGPT" and "Measure Results." I didn't open those either. The clicks here stop where the creative-enhancements page stops.[1]
The enhancement reads the landing page. A stale price there can show up in a new headline, because the page may create new or updated text from the ad and the landing page.[1] Update the page even if Manage settings is missing and you have to stop.
After October 29, use Ads Manager reporting at the campaign, ad group, and ad levels. The metrics the help page names are impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, and attributed conversions if conversion measurement is set up.[1]
"These metrics describe overall performance. Changes over time do not, on their own, establish the effect of creative enhancements."[1]
A later CTR change is not, by itself, proof that a rewritten headline did it. Don't add a test design the help page doesn't give you.[1]
The clicks
Use the help page. I didn't click them in an account.[1] If you don't run ChatGPT Ads, this isn't your path.
Before October 29, when you want the automatic versions off:
- Open Ads Manager.[1]
- Select Manage settings.[1]
- If that label is missing, stop. Write "Manage settings not in this account."[1]
- If a creative-enhancements control is on that screen, opt out before October 29. You can also change the setting later.[1]
- If that screen has no creative-enhancements control, stop. The page does not name the next click.[1]
- Read the campaign setting as well as the account default. Campaign-specific settings take priority. Existing account- and campaign-level opt-outs are preserved.[1]
If you leave enhancements on, keep prices, promotions, product details, and availability current on the ad and the landing page. Keep the offer copy specific. Don't brief a preview of every variation. Don't read a later CTR change as proof the enhancement caused it.[1]
If someone cites the email, keep the sentences apart. The email starts the enable date on Friday, October 30, 2026, for new and existing self-serve campaigns.[2] The help page says Thursday, October 29, 2026, for new and existing campaigns.[1] Act before October 29. Label October 30 as the email.[1][2]
What to hand over
Write the date, whether Manage settings was there, and whether you opted out, left the setting, or stopped because the control was missing. "Checked ChatGPT Ads" is not a handoff. Name the date, the label, and the choice. If you only opened the account default, say that. The campaign setting takes priority.[1]
Don't write that you reviewed the variations. The page says you don't get a preview of every one.[1]
If a colleague brings the October 30 email, attach both sentences. Help page: Thursday, October 29, new and existing campaigns. Email, as printed on the Roundtable page: Friday, October 30, new and existing self-serve campaigns.[1][2] Don't average them.
Select Manage settings before Thursday, October 29. Then stop where the page stops.
