Just picked up the Autonomous Key from @autonomous_labs , and I’ve got to say—it’s one of those rare little inventions that actually makes a difference in daily life. At 63, with family, work, and a million things pulling at my attention, I’ve caught myself doomscrolling way too… pic.twitter.com/uYXrGWl7ga

What I love about the Autonomous Key is how innovative yet beautifully simple it is. It’s just a physical key that acts as a real, tangible barrier between me and the endless feeds on my phone. No complicated apps, no endless settings to tweak—just insert the key (or whatever the ritual is) and it helps break that automatic pull. It’s straightforward, well-designed, and feels like something that was built with real people in mind.
It is not a magic cure. If you are determined to bypass it, you can. The value is in the interruption it creates: that moment of friction is enough to make the unconscious reach-for-the-phone habit visible. Some people may need a stronger lock or app pairing to feel fully in control.
Anyone who finds themselves losing time to scrolling and wants a gentle but effective way to reclaim attention. It is especially useful for parents, partners, and anyone whose default state has become "phone in hand."
I’ve already noticed myself reaching for my phone less out of habit, and more importantly, I’m not neglecting the people and moments that matter most. If you’re tired of losing hours to scrolling and want a small but meaningful way to reclaim your time and attention, I highly recommend giving the Autonomous Key a try. It’s a small thing that brings back a bit more of what life’s really about. Grateful to the team at Autonomous Labs for creating it. 🔑
