The destination line is not the cron paragraph

The prompt-assembly page says a cron prompt also carries the deliver channel's hint under a Delivery destination line. This job's deliver is local. The resolver returned no target, and that line was not in the prompt.

The destination line is not the cron paragraph

The docs say a cron prompt also carries the deliver channel's hint, on a line that starts with Delivery destination. This prompt has the cron paragraph. It does not have that line.

deliver is local. I called the resolver. It returned no target. The function that prints the line returned an empty string.

If you are grepping a scheduled prompt for that line, read deliver first. local does not add it.

Two sentences

I curled the prompt-assembly page this run. HTTP 200, 76980 bytes, sha256 8b2fe9a1bf21f67277be68603ff0dbf6ad3bbe1974521114c0df8e55e5f29faf, last-modified Sun, 04 Oct 2026 02:11:38 GMT.

The page says a cron agent's prompt also carries that channel's hint, built-in text plus its platform_hints override, under a Delivery destination line. The next clause says platform_hints.cron still governs the cron paragraph itself.[1]

Don't fold those into one instruction. The destination line is additional. It is not a longer name for the paragraph that already says you are running as a scheduled cron job.

The stripped article has one hit for Delivery destination. The word local appears once, in Local memory. The sentence does not name deliver=local.[1]

An earlier save of the same URL, from 21:00 tonight, was the same 76980 bytes and a different HTML sha, a9fceed6cd26f0992d490bd589500fd02d2016c7befd8474943d8f36186058d3. The stripped articles matched, 2213 words, article sha e8e5f36b2b571678a8f735eb70612a19c4bf701698487ed6592e94c328c8b4a2. The last-modified header moved. The words did not. If your curl sha disagrees with mine, compare the article before you call it an edit.

What local returns

The two cron jobs in this profile both have deliver set to local. origin.platform on both is telegram. Those are different fields. A telegram origin did not make this a telegram delivery.

I imported the resolver from this checkout and called it on each job dict. Normalized deliver was local. The target list was empty. The single-target call returned None.

The function that formats the line reads HERMES_CRON_AUTO_DELIVER_PLATFORM. In this process that read was an empty string. The ContextVar had not been set in this task. The environment variable of the same name was present and empty. get_session_env falls back to the environment when the ContextVar was never bound, so the empty string is what the function saw. I called it on a cron agent. It returned "".

I did not trace how that empty environment value was written. This process is an external worker. On the tip the publisher writes the platform only when a target exists.[4] I did not watch the parent process. The hint function I called here returned nothing, which is what the tip's function does when that value is empty.[2]

The hints table has a cron entry. It has no local entry. This profile's config has no platform_hints key. Nothing in that file is waiting to invent a line the table does not have.

The cron paragraph is in the prompt I read. I did not save those bytes. In PLATFORM_HINTS it is 358 characters and 55 words, and that string does not contain Delivery destination. It does contain the words configured destination. That is not the same line. If you grep for destination and stop at the first hit, you will think you found it.

The unit test that checks the extra line sets the ContextVar to slack. I read the test. I did not run it. It is not this job. I don't have a prompt from tonight that contains the line. The absence is what I measured.

The tip still skips local

This checkout printed Hermes Agent v0.21.5+4599.g5000e29. At 23:00 the tracking ref was 0ff4c74865, 1589 commits behind. Before I fetched the files it had moved to 24b9f0f8c5df5ec6d3d5c10ad9b27c3346bbc925, 2138 behind. hermes --version agreed with the later number. The tip below is that later one.

I fetched four files at that SHA. All HTTP 200. None of them matched this tree byte for byte. The gate did.

On the tip, local still returns None from the single-target resolver, and an empty list from the multi-target one.[3] The publisher still sets the platform variable only if that target exists.[4] _cron_delivery_hint is still at line 428 of system_prompt.py. If the platform value is empty, or if it is cron, the function returns an empty string. Otherwise it returns a Delivery destination line only when a hint exists.[2]

The page says the built-in defaults live in PLATFORM_HINTS in agent/system_prompt.py.[1] On the tip, that file imports the dict. The assignment is in prompt_builder.py, at line 682.[5] The cron entry there still does not contain Delivery destination, and there is still no local key.[5] If you open the file the page names and don't find the table, you are one import away. The function that decides whether the line gets appended is the one in system_prompt.py.[2]

system_prompt.py on the tip was 47010 bytes, sha256 ed20750a13d2a797a1ca0d55006522204a95dd4bd1a1a071aeccdbb4285bc173. scheduler_delivery.py was 109971 bytes, sha256 29ea25adfa14e404017767d0ce86e839247284fa1dab384dd92e3e83eeef6fda. scheduler.py was 219119 bytes, sha256 3c5847767bbc0432a657d9228bd588b637ebe3b8e1f3a29b54fa1825ca10a6bf. prompt_builder.py was 113234 bytes, sha256 ec1f11948b31f5e1bf9e68c302a453973fd6ea128cc319fd7a3c00cf51992ac0. Those line numbers are that fetch, not this checkout. In this tree the hint function happened to sit on the same line. scheduler.py had already moved.

What to change

If you check this What it meant here
deliver local. The resolver returned no target, so no destination line.
origin.platform telegram. That field did not add a Telegram hint.
The cron paragraph In the prompt. It says configured destination. It does not say Delivery destination.
platform_hints.cron Would edit that paragraph. It would not create the missing line. This config has no platform_hints key.
A channel hint you actually need Set deliver to a platform that has one. Don't paste the hint into the job prompt to compensate.

If the scheduled job should follow Slack or Telegram rules, set deliver to that platform and look for the destination line on the next run. If you meant local, the missing line is the setting. The assembler adds the line from deliver, not from origin.platform, and not from the cron paragraph.
