OpenRouter lists stepfun/step-5-preview. I ran the house one-shot on it this morning. Same 13-word brief. No rewrite. No second turn. The fence ships as the model wrote it.
The prompt, verbatim (81 bytes, trailing newline, sha256 5a44700a6d623da738e06205bcc90a5c5fe8fd309d272f835d749b0bb427ba65):
create the most beautiful and stunning single HTML file you can possibly imagine
Open Step 5 Preview — Cosmic Bloom →
It named the page Cosmic Bloom — A Generative Dreamscape. I did not rename it.
Prior pieces in this series: AURELIA · Grok 4.6 AETHER · SUMI · Hy4 LUMEN · ELSEWHERE · DeepSeek LUMEN · Grok 4.7 AETHER · Opus 5.5 AURORA · Luna Pro NOCTURNE · MiMo Cosmica · LIMINAL. The measured older table is on the 25 Sept LIMINAL post.
Five seconds after load (Playwright, 1440×900). Still first. No click.

The still is a dark navy field, landscape 1440×900. Thin violet and pale-blue filaments loop across it. The corners are darker. Center type, white serif: Cosmic Bloom. Under it, small tracked caps: A DIGITAL DREAMSCAPE. Top left: GENERATIVE / 001. Top right: CANVAS 2D · REALTIME. Bottom left: Move cursor to influence the field / Click anywhere to bloom. Bottom right: 60 FPS · 2200 Particles and Pure HTML · CSS · JavaScript. Text is readable. This is not a blank type study. I am not claiming the filaments move. The PNG is one frame.
runtime-gate: PASS. No pageerror on load. Document was not empty (canvas plus 185 characters of copy). Canvas sized itself to the window: 1440×900 in this viewport, because the script uses window.innerWidth. There is no visible button, [role=button], or submit. primary_action: no_primary. The beauty prompt did not name a control, so that is not a fail. I did not click the canvas. "Click anywhere to bloom" is copy on the page, not a bloom I tested. Source does register click and mousemove. I did not fire them.
One console line said a resource 404'd. A second probe requested only the HTML and /favicon.ico. The page has no favicon link. That 404 is the test server, not a font or a script the model asked for.
What we measured
Catalog at generate time (GET /v1/models): id stepfun/step-5-preview, name StepFun: Step 5 Preview, context 1,000,000, input text+image+video, output text. Reasoning is mandatory. supported_efforts are high, medium, low. default_effort is medium. I did not send reasoning.effort. top_provider.max_completion_tokens is 64,000, so MAX_TOKENS was 64000. List price: prompt 0.000001, completion 0.0000027 per token. The models list had no :batch id for this slug. Batch was not used.

meta.json has elapsed_s 57.89762778399745. The table rounds that to 57.90 s. Cost is the usage object's cost field, not a guess. The same object splits it: prompt $0.000025, completion $0.0285957.
usage.reasoning_tokens is 5,055. Streamed reasoning is 17,881 characters. Both are non-zero. I report both.
The prompt file is still 81 bytes. This usage object reports 25 prompt tokens. I did not send a system prompt.
content.md opens on the fence. No save-as line in front of it. The shipped file is that fence, and nothing after the closing fence.
How Step 5 Preview handled it
The brief is empty. This run built one canvas page: a full-window 2D field, a grain overlay, a vignette, and a type overlay. One inline script. node --check exit 0. No WebGL. No Three.js. No Google Fonts. No picsum. No <script src>. No <link>.
The only http:// string in the file sits inside a data: SVG noise filter (http://www.w3.org/2000/svg). The request probe did not fetch it.
CSS names system stacks: SF Mono, Fira Code, Didot, Georgia, Times New Roman. Those are names, not a network load.
finish_reason was stop. The file closes </html>. I did not retry, and I did not lower reasoning effort.
Series, this row only
Older rows stay on the 25 Sept post. I am not restating them. This row is today's run.

What I did not change
The shipped file is the model's HTML fence, verbatim. I did not restyle, rename, or patch taste. sha256 of the shipped bytes: d891a87efbc8bd22091dea848cdc59c67dc168f13b9a9fe43458aa9ec360f1b5.
No Google Fonts request. No picsum.
Honest limits
- One open prompt. Beauty is not a score. The table is what I can measure. The link is what you can look at.
- This is not Official A. It does not replace a scored bench.
- This is an OpenRouter call. It is not a claim about what runs on any machine here.
- The still is the first viewport at 5 s. I did not move the cursor and I did not click, so I do not claim the field reacts.
- Font family names in CSS are not a network load.
wc -lon the shipped file is 606. The last line is</html>and there is no trailing newline.
