Nemotron 3.5 Super VL one-shot: AETHER

OpenRouter lists nvidia/nemotron-3.5-super-vl:free. The catalog name is NVIDIA: Nemotron 3.5 Super VL (free). I ran the house one-shot on it today. Same 13-word brief. No rewrite. No second turn. The fence ships as the model wrote it.

The prompt, verbatim (81 bytes, trailing newline, sha256 5a44700a6d623da738e06205bcc90a5c5fe8fd309d272f835d749b0bb427ba65):

It titled the page AETHER — Beyond the Horizon. The headline on the page is AETHER. I did not rename it.

This is not the September page that also used the word AETHER. That one is AETHER — Sanctuary of Light. Different generation. Different file.

Five seconds after load (Playwright, 1440×900). Still first. No click.

The still is a dark field, 1440×900. Purple-black, a little lighter toward the top. Small violet dots sit on that field. I do not see lines between them in this PNG. I am not claiming they move.

Top left, a blue-to-cyan wordmark: AETHER. A thin rule under the nav. The source has links for Origins, Capabilities, and Vision. They are not in the still. .nav-links is display: none, and the 768px query sets the same. There is no wider query that shows them. At 1440px the computed display was none.

Centered, small caps: EXPERIENCE THE INFINITE. The headline is AETHER, large, white on the left and violet on the right. The subcopy is readable:

A digital sanctuary where light, motion, and imagination converge into a single breathtaking interface.

Under that, two pills. Explore is a pink-to-violet fill with a soft halo. Learn More is a dark outline. Bottom center, small caps: SCROLL. The source text is scroll. The stylesheet sets text-transform: uppercase.

I did not move the pointer before the still. I do not see the custom cursor ring. The source parks that 20px circle at 0,0 until a mousemove. Text is readable. This is not a blank type study.

runtime-gate: PASS. No pageerror on load. Document was not empty (canvas plus 1,433 characters of copy). Canvas sized itself to the window: 1440×900, id particles. The source calls getContext('2d'). I did not launch Chromium with a software GL flag. This is not a WebGL page, and I am not claiming a GPU.

No <button>, no [role=button], no input[type=submit]. primary_action: no_primary. The prompt did not require a click, so that is not a fail. Explore and Learn More were visible. They are anchors (<a class="btn">), not buttons. Explore sat near top 561px, left 582px, about 117×57. I did not click either one, so I do not claim the hash links work.

One console line said a resource 404'd. The test server log is GET /favicon.ico 404. A second probe of /favicon.ico returned 404. The page has no favicon link. That 404 is the test server, not a font or a script the model asked for.

What we measured

Catalog at generate time (GET /v1/models): id nvidia/nemotron-3.5-super-vl:free, name NVIDIA: Nemotron 3.5 Super VL (free), canonical slug nvidia/nemotron-3.5-super-vl-20261015. The created field is 1792076662, which is 2026-10-15 11:04:22 EDT. Context 1,000,000. Input text, image, video. Output text. This call was text in and text out. video_tokens, audio_tokens, and image_tokens are 0.

hugging_face_id is null. I am not pointing at a weights repo.

The catalog description, as the models list returns it, ends in an ellipsis: "NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 Super VL is an open multimodal mixture-of-experts model from NVIDIA, with 12B active parameters out of 120B total. It takes text, images, documents, GUI screenshots, and video..." I did not measure parameter counts. That sentence is catalog text.

Reasoning is not mandatory. The reasoning object has no default_effort and no supported_efforts. I did not send reasoning.effort. top_provider.max_completion_tokens is 131,072. The stream script's default MAX_TOKENS is 65536. I did not override it. List price: prompt 0, completion 0. The models list had no :batch id for this slug. Batch was not used.

meta.json has elapsed_s 21.909157382964622. The table rounds that to 21.91 s. Cost is the usage object's cost field, which is 0. The same object sets upstream inference cost to 0.

usage.reasoning_tokens is 2,469. Streamed reasoning is 8,213 characters. The catalog does not call reasoning mandatory, and the response did not echo an effort. I am not claiming an effort level. I report both counts.

The prompt file is still 81 bytes. This usage object reports 30 prompt tokens. I did not send a system prompt.

content.md opens with a save-as-index.html line, then the fence. Nothing follows the closing fence. The shipped file is the first fence only.

How it handled the brief

The brief is empty. This run built one page: a full-window canvas, a fixed nav, a type hero, two anchor pills, three sections, and one inline script. node --check exit 0. The script sets particleCount to 80 and draws on a 2D canvas. The still shows dots. I did not count 80 points in the PNG.

The font stack is system fonts: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif. No Google Fonts link. No picsum. No <script src>. No stylesheet <link>.

The only http:// string in the file sits inside a data:image/svg+xml noise texture. It is the SVG namespace, http://www.w3.org/2000/svg. That is not a fetch.

finish_reason was stop. The file closes </html>. I did not retry.

What I did not change

The shipped file is the model's HTML fence, verbatim. I did not restyle, rename, or patch taste. sha256 of the shipped bytes: b7c63a46ef7446d62865d89f4bf4863ee95ad58318b1cf49291954c3eb1baeed.

The hidden nav links stay hidden. I did not add a media query.

Honest limits

• One open prompt. Beauty is not a score. The table is what I can measure. The link is what you can look at.
• This is not Official A. The scored Cold Iron post is 96/157, send effort=none. This page does not replace that bench.
• This is an OpenRouter call. It is not a claim about what runs on any machine here.
• The still is the first viewport at 5 s. I did not move the cursor before the capture. I did not click Explore or Learn More.
• The catalog reasoning object only says mandatory is false. I did not send an effort, and the response did not echo one. Reasoning tokens are 2,469 anyway.
• wc -l on the shipped file is 709. The last line is </html> and there is a trailing newline.

REASONING_EFFORT was unset. MAX_TOKENS was the script default, 65536. TEMPERATURE was the script default, 0.7. I did not override either. The stream wrote reasoning.md.

Verification notes

Measured 2026-10-15 on OpenRouter from this box:

• Identity: completion model matched nvidia/nemotron-3.5-super-vl:free. Catalog id confirmed before the call. Catalog created is 1792076662.
• Tokens / cost / finish: stream usage object and finish_reason. Cost field 0.
• Reasoning: 8,213 streamed characters; usage.completion_tokens_details.reasoning_tokens is 2,469.
• HTML size: 20,047 bytes after the first HTML fence. sha256 above.
• JS: node --check on the inline script. Exit 0.
• Still: Playwright Chromium, 1440×900, 5 s after load, local HTTP server on port 50195. Still saved before any click. executablePath was the cached Chromium under ~/.cache/ms-playwright/chromium-1243/chrome-linux64/. No software GL flag.
• runtime-gate: entry_ok=true; primary_action=no_primary; no pageerror. Console 404 was /favicon.ico on the test server.
