Generate video is not the Create Shorts banner.
Generate video makes a Gemini Omni clip. Generate image makes a Nano Banana still. Edit with AI starts on the banner that says Create Shorts, not on those buttons.

I fetched YouTube's Create with AI help on October 20, 2026. Generate video makes a Gemini Omni clip. Generate image makes a Nano Banana still. The banner that says Create Shorts is Edit with AI, and it is not either of those buttons.
I didn't log in, and I didn't tap anything. I also fetched the Android, iOS, and Desktop query URLs. The article HTML was the same 8,832 bytes on all four, and the hash matched. The steps still say open the YouTube Create app and tap. If you're on a computer, this page did not give me a click path.
The pages don't show an article date. I didn't find dateModified in the HTML. The only Last updated strings were inside a support-case script, not the article.
Generate video is the Omni clip
You can create and edit content with AI in the YouTube Create app.[1] These features are experimental, and they are currently available to a limited number of creators in select countries.[1] That sentence is not the country list under a specific tool.
All content on YouTube, including AI-generated content made with YouTube Create, must follow the Community Guidelines.[1] The page says it may not accept prompts that violate its policies or touch on sensitive topics.[1] I didn't open the guidelines link.
With Gemini Omni in YouTube Create, you can generate vertical video clips up to 10 seconds long while controlling the lighting.[1] It is currently available on mobile devices in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the United States.[1] Prompts are available in all languages.[1] Gemini Omni is only available for certain AI-generative tools, and the page does not name them.[1]
Open the YouTube Create app.[1] In the bottom navigation of the editor, tap Generate video.[1] You can also start from the homepage banner, from Add on the timeline and then the option to generate a new clip, or from that option on an overlay.[1] The homepage banner bullet has no name. Don't call it Create Shorts. That name shows up later, on the Edit with AI steps.
Enter a text prompt, or tap a suggested prompt. The upper limit is 900 characters.[1] For specific visuals, tap Add and upload up to 3 reference images from your gallery.[1] The lighting line says like, so these are examples: Soft morning light, Golden hour, Blue hour, or Moonlight.[1] Describe the audio and sound effects in the text prompt. If you want speech in a specific language, specify it in the prompt.[1] Aspect ratio is 9:16, portrait, and that is the default.[1]
Tap Generate. To put the clip on the timeline, tap Use Video.[1] The page does not say how many clips come back.
The still has an age line Omni does not
Nano Banana is the image tool. You can use text prompts and reference images to create new images with it in the YouTube Create app.[1]
It is available to users over 18 on mobile devices in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the United States.[1] Prompts must be in English or Hindi.[1] That age line and that language pair are on this tool, not on Omni. Omni's prompt line is all languages, and the Omni section has no over-18 sentence.[1]
Tap Generate image in the same bottom navigation.[1] The other starts are the homepage banner, Add and then generate a new image, and an overlay.[1] You can use up to 900 characters.[1] Reference images are optional, up to three, from the device's gallery.[1] That gallery line does not say tap Add. The Add tap is on the video reference step.[1]
Tap Generate and you get four images.[1] Thumbs up and thumbs down are feedback on the result, not a share step.[1] Select one. Use Image adds it to the timeline.[1] Create Video turns it into an 8-second video.[1] The 10-second cap is on the Omni clip, not on this one.
Edit Generation is not Edit with AI
Select the generated image or video on the timeline and tap Edit Generation.[1] You go back to the prompt screen.[1] Your original text and images populate.[1] Update them, then tap Generate.[1]
The heading is "Edit your generated images or videos."[1] The page does not call this step Edit with AI. The Shorts banner is a different instruction.
Edit with AI starts on Create Shorts
In the YouTube Create app, tap the banner at the top that says Create Shorts.[1] The page puts quotation marks around those two words.[1] I didn't open the other YouTube Create articles in that help center, so their steps are not in this post.
Edit with AI helps you turn raw footage into a polished video with music and effects, and it provides a strong first draft for you to customize.[1] You are bringing footage you already have, not prompting a new Omni clip.
Select videos and photos, then tap Next.[1] You can pick up to 25 items.[1] Choose editing features like Voiceover, Music, and Captions, then tap Next.[1] Like means examples. Preview the draft.[1] Tap Edit if you want to change music volume or voice over.[1] The page spells that one as two words, "voice over."[1] Tap Edit video to go back to the editing feature.[1] When you're done, tap Export Done.[1] Publish or download the video.[1] You can download it and upload it to YouTube from the Export Screen.[1]
This country note does not say mobile devices.[1] The page lists Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Türkiye and the United States.[1] Voiceover, one word in this sentence, will initially support Bengali, English, Hindi, and Portuguese.[1] This section does not include an over-18 requirement or a 900-character limit.
Those length options sit under Edit with AI
The clip requirements are under Edit with AI, not under Gemini Omni.[1] While using YouTube Create, you can choose length options including <15s, 15-30s, and 31-60s.[1] The page says 1 to 25 clips.[1] An upload has to be at least 5 seconds and at most 5 minutes.[1]
That 5-minute maximum is the upload length on this path. It is not a cap on the 10-second Omni clip. The page never puts those two numbers in the same section.
The label page does not name these tools
The Create page says labels clearly indicate to viewers that the content they're watching is synthetic.[1] The learn-more link is a different article.[1] I fetched it. The article text does not name YouTube Create, Gemini Omni, Nano Banana, or Edit with AI.[2] Create Shorts appears in the help center navigation, not in the article. The nav is not a step.
You might find the information in the video player or the description.[2] Made with AI means the video contains content that has been meaningfully altered or synthetically generated with Gen AI tools.[2] Expect that when the creator manually discloses AI content in YouTube Studio, when they use YouTube's generative AI tools, or when Content Credentials say the entire video is made with AI.[2] The example in parentheses is DreamScreen, one word.[2]
If the use is undisclosed, YouTube may in some cases apply a label.[2] May is the word on the page. I didn't open the Studio how-to that link points at.
I can't tell you, from these two pages, whether a Generate video clip writes that label on its own. The Create page states the label sentence and links out. The disclosure page's tool example is DreamScreen.[2]
The taps, in one place
| What you want | Where the page says to start | What the page says you get |
|---|---|---|
| A Gemini Omni clip | Bottom navigation, tap Generate video | A vertical clip up to 10 seconds, then Use Video |
| A Nano Banana still | Bottom navigation, tap Generate image | Four images, then Use Image or an 8-second video |
| A change to that generation | Select it, then tap Edit Generation | The original prompt and images come back, then tap Generate |
| Edit with AI | The top banner that says Create Shorts | A draft from up to 25 items, then Export Done |
If a control has moved, the screen wins. I read the help page. I didn't tap it.
Are you making the 10-second clip, the still, or a Short from footage you already have?
