Tap more actions. A computer does not get that tap.
The Threads label is two steps on a phone. Tap more actions, then Add AI label. A computer and an iPad both say that feature is not there.

I pulled Meta's Threads label help this morning, the Android page, the iPhone page, the computer page, and the iPad page. The phone pages stop after two steps.[1][2] The other two say the feature is not there.[3][4] I didn't log in, turn a label on, or create a post.
I compared the Android and iPhone article text after dropping the images and the tracking links. It matched, including the tap line.[1][2] The reader still prints both tab names, Android App Help and iPhone App Help, and it does not say which tab is selected.[1][2] The URL source line is what splits them. The steps I fetched are the same, so I'm not inventing a different icon for iPhone.[1][2]
None of the four pages shows a Last updated line. The footer on the reader files says © 2026 Meta.[1]
The phone tap is more actions
How to label your posts is two lines. Create a post on Threads.[1] Then tap the image and choose Add AI label.[1]
The image alt in the reader is "more actions." The asset name in that image URL is ig-three-dots-more-horizontal.[1] That is the whole list.[1] There is no Toggle on this page.[1] I checked the four reader files I saved, and the word Toggle is not in them. If you remember a control that says Toggle next to Add AI label, that wording is from somewhere else. It is not written here.[1] Don't paste it over.
The first line is a link. The link text is "a post on Threads," and it points at help.instagram.com/1217144552251333.[1] I didn't open that article, so I don't have the create steps.
When you use the tap, people will see an AI content label on your post.[1]
What you have to label before you share
Meta requires you to label content you share that has photorealistic video or realistic-sounding audio that has been digitally generated or altered, including with AI. If a digital creation or AI tool was used to create or modify that kind of content, you must label it before you share it.[1]
There may be penalties if you do not label content as required.[1] The page points at the Transparency Center. I didn't open it, so I don't have the penalty text.
Meta does not require you to label images that have been created or modified with AI. The next sentence says images will still receive a label if Meta's systems detect they were AI-generated.[1] An image can skip your tap and still pick up a label.[1] A realistic video does not get that pass.[1] You label it before you share.[1]
The page gives examples, and I'm keeping them as written. A label is required for a video that appears realistic of a group of people walking around an outdoor market, an audio file of two people talking, a song created using AI-generated vocals, and a reel narrated with a realistic AI-generated voiceover.[1]
A label is not required for a video of an outdoor landscape, created in a style resembling a cartoon, or for an image of a person riding a bull. The parenthetical on that image says Meta does not require you to label images.[1]
If you are about to post a realistic voiceover, label it before you share.[1] If you are about to post a still image, the hand label is not required on this page.[1] The detection label is the next sentence on the page, not the same instruction.[1]
A label can land without the tap
Content may be labeled automatically when it contains AI signals, or you can label AI-generated or AI-modified content when you share it on Threads.[1] You can wait for a signal in the file, or you can add the label yourself when you share.[1]
Content created or modified with Meta's AI tools and shared to Threads directly as a post may automatically be labeled above or on the content. The example watermark says Imagined with AI.[1] The verb on that line is may.[1]
Content with industry-standard signals indicating that it was created with AI will be labeled with AI content. That includes third-party tools.[1] It also includes Meta AI content you download to a device and then upload.[1] The verb on that line is will.[1]
Content with industry-standard signals indicating that it was modified with AI will not receive an AI content label directly on the thread.[1] Keep that wording on the thread.[1] The sentence does not say post, story, or reel.[1]
If you choose not to identify AI use in the content you share, an AI content label will be applied if Meta detects that the content was AI-generated.[1] Skip the tap and the page still says will, when Meta detects it.[1]
Not all AI content contains the information needed to identify it.[1] If the file has no signal and Meta does not detect it, this page does not promise a label.[1]
A signal in the file is not the tap
Some content made or modified with an AI tool may have an industry-standard signal that identifies it as created or modified using AI tools. The example on the page is an image collage you might make in a common photo editing tool.[1]
Photo editing tools that use AI to change the size or color of an image may add a signal showing that the content was modified using AI. Meta's systems read those signals to decide if the content needs a label.[1]
A tool that uses AI to change the size or color can add that signal before you open Threads.[1] The more actions tap is separate from that signal.[1] You choose Add AI label while you are labeling the post, even when you are not sure the file carries a signal.[1] The page says you can label AI-generated or AI-modified content when you share it.[1]
The same page says this approach will evolve as people's expectations and the technology evolve.[1] I don't have a date for that. No Last updated line on the files I fetched.
The other menu is for looking
Information about AI used to create or modify content can be found by clicking the menu on any post, story, reel or thread, regardless of the type of signal Meta receives.[1]
That menu image has no alt text in the reader.[1] The asset name is comet-blackthreedot-desktop.[1] The verb is clicking.[1] Use it after something is already up, when you want to see what Meta has on the post.[1] It is not the more actions image, and it is not the Add AI label step.[1]
Labeling and identifying AI content is different for ads.[1] This page does not give ad taps.[1] If you are labeling an ad, you need a different article. I didn't open one.
Use Meta AI on Threads is a related title on the same page.[1] I didn't open that article either. I'm not pulling steps out of a title.
A computer and an iPad stop early
The computer page says this feature isn't available on computers, but it is available on these devices. Select a device to learn more about this feature.[3] Under that sentence, the links are Android App Help and iPhone App Help.[3] There is no tap list on that page.[3] more actions is not on the page.[3] Add AI label is not on the page.[3]
The iPad page says this feature isn't available on the iPad app, but it is available on these devices.[4] Same two links.[4] I opened that page, and it does not contain the phone taps.[4] Same title is not a reason to paste them over.
If you are on a computer, or in the iPad app, stop at that sentence and switch to a phone.[3][4] The phone pages are the ones that write the tap.[1][2]
What the page says, by surface
| Where you are | What the page I fetched says |
|---|---|
| Android or iPhone | Create a post on Threads, tap more actions, choose Add AI label |
| Computer | This feature isn't available on computers |
| iPad app | This feature isn't available on the iPad app |
| After it's already up | Click the menu on any post, story, reel or thread |
| An ad | Labeling and identifying AI content is different for ads. No taps on this page |
| A still image | Meta does not require you to label images. A detection label can still land |
| Realistic video or realistic audio | Label it before you share |
Are you on a phone, where the page actually writes the tap, or on a computer that stops at the unavailable sentence?
