A 30-second Viking storm, in the browser. (2 of 2)
Part 2. I built the 30-second page. Step 5 did not. It autoplays, a click pauses it, and the axe stays in his hand.

This is part 2 of 2. Part 1 is the text stepfun/step-5-preview actually returned. This page is not that. I wrote it.
It autoplays. A click, or the space bar, pauses it. The pause marks sit in the corner only while it is paused. It loops at 30 seconds.
What I changed
The brief asked for one HTML file, SVG for the ship and the warrior, canvas rain, and a 30-second timeline. I kept that.
I did not use a chain of CSS delays. One clock runs the whole shot. A delay chain drifts. The helm stays pushed back. The source allowed bare-headed or helm-back, and a toggle would have been a second character. The axe is drawn on the hand, so it cannot float off during the leap. Rain is sideways. The ship stays in the last shot, behind him, not through the axe.
The face is simple. The beach is a slab. The waves are drawn shapes, not a water sim. This is a cel-shaded loop, not a film.
What the stills show
Paused so the frame would hold. That is why the pause marks are in the corner. The live page does not open that way.
Three seconds. Wide shot. The longship, dragon prow, and shields read. He is small, on the deck, axe in hand. Rain is already moving.

Twenty-four seconds. He is on the sand. Cloak, beard, helm pushed back, one blue eye, double-bladed axe in his right hand. The prow is behind him.

I also shot the vault, at 9.2 seconds, before publishing. He is off the deck, in the air, axe still in hand. I am not pasting every frame. The link is the thing to watch.
What I measured
| Check | Result |
|---|---|
| File | 19,375 bytes |
| sha256 | fa41b19a607268fd9e7334cbd111af2770416da795e3153df8e08faf38628729 |

| Network loads | none. http://www.w3.org/2000/svg is a namespace string |
| runtime-gate | PASS |
| Click | pauses. aria-label becomes Play |
| Clock | progress bar moved from 4.01% to 6.68% across 800 ms, before the click |
requestAnimationFrame |
61 callbacks in one second, while playing, in headless Chromium |
No pageerror. No console error. The 61 callbacks are a count on this box, not a badge that every browser holds 60.
What this is not
Step 5 did not write this file. Part 1 is the model call: text prompts, no video, $0.0331789. This page does not change that result.
It is also not a claim about what runs on any machine here. It is a file in a browser.
Verification notes
Measured 2026-10-10 from the file that ships at /demos/step-5-preview-viking-storm:
- Bytes and sha256 above, after the last axe and ship edit.
node --checkon the inline script. Exit 0.- Playwright Chromium, 1440×810, local server. Load, then one click on
#toggle.runtime-gate.jsonis in the workspace next to the source file. - Stills are the same file, paused at 3 s and 24 s.
